There was a policeman standing in the threshold of the doorway to Ryan's apartment. Her fears were immediately realized. \n\n"This is my boyfriend's apartment! Please let me in! Is he okay! Let me talk to him!" she shouts, becoming frantic and her voice breaking under the pressure of trying not to cry. \n\nThe policeman gave her a stern look. "Your boyfriend was Ryan Fletcher, [[correct|truth]]?"
"His family was from Arizona, he grew up in Phoenix. His parents are divorced, but his dad passed away last year. He went to Arizona State for college. I don't really know much else, we met at work. I'm a cocktail waitress at a casino, and he was a manager in a different department." \n\nThe policeman nodded, and carefully took down notes. He then looked back up at her and smiled. "Thank you miss, we will be in touch with you soon. You're free to go." \n\nThe [[ride|home]] home had never been faster.
She rolls out of bed, and throws on clothes to look presentable, in a rush to get to Ryan's apartment. She keeps trying to tell herself that he's fine, despite her feeling an impending sense of doom. \n\nShe walks out of her house and into the driveway to start the car. Before she can open the door, she notices that both of her front tires have been slashed. Something is very wrong. \n\n"What on Earth is going on?" she questions outloud. There's no time to investigate the car. She runs to the end of the street to the [[bus|bus]] stop.
"But he is also under arrest. Miss, this may be very troubling news for you to hear, but Ryan Fletcher has been under investigation for some time here. We believe he is the central suspect in 6 open and ongoing murder investigations." \n\nThe policeman looks at her with his kindly eyes. There was a reason he was the main interrogation man within the department, he made his suspects feel safe. \n\n"We need to know all the information you have. Anything at all that could help us find his location. It will certainly make things easier when he have to take you in for formal interrogations." \n\nShe feels her blood run cold as it drains out of her face. The thought of her loving boyfriend being a murderer in his spare time was sickening, but yet, she didn't immediately dismiss it. \n\n"His [[family|family]] was from Arizona." \n\n"I don't know much about his past at all. You probably [[know|know]] more than I do."
She lies awake in bed, still drowning in thoughts that something is not right. Her hands fidget with her cell phone, running her fingers compulsively over the screen. \n\nShe [[texts|boyfriend]] to see if he's awake, and able to calm her fears.

She woke up at 4 AM, out of a dead sleep. She had a sinking feeling in her stomach. Something was wrong. Her hands scrambled for her cell phone, quickly trying to ease her fears. \n\nShe [[calls|mother]] her mother, \n\nor she [[texts|boyfriend]] her boyfriend. \n
The station is cold and empty. She sits alone in a hard chair in the middle of a barren room, with tile floors and white painted walls. There's a table in front of her, and another chair on the other side. \n\nThe ride to the station was worse than the bus ride to Ryan's apartment. The cop would not discuss any details with her while in the vehicle. She sat quietly in the backseat staring out the window, becoming numb to the crazy whirlwind her life had been sucked into over the past few hours. \n\nThe policeman enters the room and sits down across from her. Up close, she notices how kind he looks, and relaxes slightly. \n\n"Please tell me what happened. Where's Ryan?" she pleads with him. \n\n"Miss? Ryan Fletcher is missing. [[But|explain]]..."
She awoke several hours later. Her bedside alarm clock read 9 AM. Surely Ryan should be awake by now, it was Friday and he was always in his office by 8:45. She grabbed her phone and checked for any missed calls or texts. There was nothing. \n\nPerhaps being a bit overreactive, but nonetheless very anxious, she called Ryan's office number. No answer there either. She knew that something was very wrong. \n\nShe decided to stop by his apartment, maybe he simply overslept or called in sick. \n\nShe [[drives|car]] over to his place, \n\nor she takes the [[bus|bus]]. \n\n
The policeman looked at her, his kind eyes hardening as she tried to deny any knowledge of the situation. It made her look guilty. \n\n"Now miss, you mean to tell me that you two were in a serious realtionship, and you don't even know where his hometown is?" \n\nShe looked down sheepishly. "Well, I guess I do know a little [[bit|family]]..."
"Yes! Yes that's him!" she continues to shout frantically. "Please let me see him, where is he?!" \n\nThe policeman turns his head back into the apartment, and nods at his partner. He then steps out into the hallway, where he can stand face to face with her. \n\n"Miss? You're going to need to come down to the [[station|station]] with us. We have some information to share with you, and we believe you may be able to share some information with us."
She frantically punches buttons on her cell phone, calling her mother. She's worried sick at this point, 100 percent certain that something catastrophic has happened. She holds the phone to her ear and waits for the confirmation of her worst fears. \n\n"Mom? I know it's late, sorry for waking you. I woke up with a bad feeling, are you okay?" \n\n"Of course sweetie, everyone is fine here. Don't worry about us. Go back to [[bed|bed]] and try to get some rest."
“I know the truth about RF, seek the future uncertainty and find me. Or don’t, and I’ll make sure that you’re just as guilty as he is. – 26505”\n\nMadeline's blood ran cold. Someone was blackmailing her, or so it seemed. What could this message mean? She typed the mysterious numbers into Google. Her first result was a zipcode listing for Morgantown, WV. \n\n"Well, I guess I don't have anything to lose." she said to herself with a sigh. \n\nThe end. \n\nOr [[start|Start]] again.
She had never been so relieved to be home. All she wanted to do was be alone with her thoughts, and try to piece together every thing that had happened in one short day. \n\nHowever, she noticed a [[letter|letter]] poking out from underneath her welcome mat. It had her name, "MADLEINE" printed acrossed the center. She walked into the house, tearing the envelope open. \n\nNothing could have prepared her for the message inside.

The wait for the bus seems to take forever in her mind. The only thing she was concerned with was getting to Ryan, to make this terrible nightmare-turned-reality go away. The 10 minute bus ride was the longest ride of her life. She had no idea what to expect when she arrived at her boyfriend's place. \n\n. . . . . .\n\nShe ran up the 4 flights of stairs to Ryan's apartment, only to find that the front door was already [[opened|opened]]
Her fingers swiftly move over the illuminated screen of her phone. \n\n"Hey babe, call me when you're awake. I woke up with a terrible feeling something bad happened, and I'm worried about you. Love you." \n\nShe tries to ease back into bed. She hoped she would hear from Ryan in the morning. \n\nHer eyes began to close, and she quickly [[drifts|wake]] back to dreamland. . .
